Seeking Share Care Friends

During a conversation (via Ko-fi) about the frankly frightening rise in price of animal feed since Brexit / Covid Susan from Frugaldom mentioned that she was hoping to find some "Share-Care" families to help with the cost and physical care of the ponies she has rescued, (if you live in the Dumfries and Galloway area of Scotland and this appeals to you please get in touch with Susan.) She wondered if this was something that we might be able to adapt for Eggsy.

Being on a livery yard it would be difficult to have lots of different people coming to care for Eggsy, and, although he has lots of friends from all over the world hardly any are local to us. Also we don't really need the physical help, the whole family mucks in if needed. It sounded like a great idea but probably not one that would work for us. But it's been hovering in the back of our minds for a few weeks now and suddenly we wondered if  a virtual share-care would work.

If you've been following his story you'll know that we never were really able to afford him and we weren't able to find anyone willing to take a half starved colt with locking stifles, so we had no choice but to keep him and nurse him back to health. Although one person did suggest euthanasia, well a bullet actually, we were not prepared to go down that route!

With the help of donations, and the fact that it didn't cost us anymore to have another pony on the land we rented, we managed to cover his expenses without getting into financial difficulties. But sadly all that changed when we were forced off the land, (and as a result lost the family business that we'd fought so hard to keep going during Covid) and into livery.

Livery costs have more than doubled the cost of keeping our horses, that, along with the ever increasing cost of feed and forage means that we have to try and raise more funds if we're to continue to keep Eggsy Pony. Yes it really is getting that bad.

If we can't afford to pay his livery and end up owing rent the yard owner will take possession of him and sell him to cover the debt, it's common practice and we know he has done it before. We can't allow that to happen, we desperately need to secure Eggsy's future by raising more funds to ensure that the money is always available to pay his bills!

With this goal in mind we're pleased to announce Eggsy Pony's new subscription service through which you can become one of  Eggsy's Share-Care Friends.

This new, tiered system builds on Eggsy's existing Ko-fi (where you can buy him a coffee, which converts to his food because ponies don't drink coffee) to offer a range of perks, including receiving real cards through your letterbox, in exchange for your support. (We were thrilled to be able to get some exclusive Eggsy Pony cards printed using a gift card we received as a Christmas pressie and even some limited edition magnets with Eggsy's face on them.)

Our hope is that the launch of these subscriptions will ensure the ongoing financial security needed to enable Eggsy to stay with his horsey friends and give us a little time, away from constantly trying to fundraise for Eggsy, so that we can provide more content for you to enjoy.

Whether or not you decide to become a member, we 're very  grateful for everything you do for Eggsy, from sharing his story, to giving us moral support, to buying him "coffees", we really do appreciate every one of you.

Thank you for always being there for Eggsy Pony xx

  1. A very good idea! Unfortunately I am able to donate via this route but will continue to make and sell Eggsy Exclusives! I will also work hard to launch Guiding Horses Crafts so that I can actually find some fans of my own 🥰🤗🐎
