Ode to The Horse by Ronald Duncan

Where in this wide world can man find nobility without pride, friendship without envy or beauty without vanity? Here, where grace is laced with muscle, and strength by gentleness confined. He serves without servility; he has fought without enmity. There is nothing so powerful, nothing less violent, there is nothing so quick, nothing more patient. England’s past has been borne on his back. All our history is his industry; we are his heirs; he  our inheritance. - Ronald Duncan  © Ronald Duncan Estate. Ode to The Horse by Ronald Duncan was written by request of  Colonel Sir Mike Ansell whilst he was director of the Horse of the Year Show and is now read each year at the close of the show. This is our 2nd Blogtober post on this blog, there are more on Eggsy's Ko-fi page  including another very famous horse poem: The Horses by Edwin Muir and Rescuers  a blog post about the very first cat I ever rescued. and International Coffee Day  Also we continue our Quote of the Day over on Ko-fi

Are any of you taking part in "Blogtober"?  Do let us know if you are. If you haven't heard of Blogtober it's a sort of blogging challenge where bloggers from all over the world try to publish a post every day during the month of October. We thought we'd try and join in this year, though to be honest writing 31 blog posts in 31 days is probably going to be rather too much, everyday life often gets in the way of the best laid plans. So in an attempt to make the challenge achievable for ourselves we're aiming to write and publish 2 to 3 blog posts a week on here or on  Eggsy's Ko-fi   which is where we've been mostly blogging lately. And yes we are counting this as our first blog post of Blogtober! Hope you'll follow along with us and please, if you are blogging yourself, put a link in the comments so we can come and have a read.  See you soon x
