The Summer of 2026

 

 

The  summer of 2026, which will be remembered for it's heatwaves, lack of rainfall and wild fires, was in fact quite devastating for horse owners. 

 

The grass stopped growing for lack of rain, hay crops failed.

The price of forage sky rocketed and it had to be fed throughout the summer months.
 

 

 

Whenever it rained we celebrated with a roll-fest covering ourselves with mud.

It wasn't all doom and gloom, for awhile we got to graze down a paddock that had long grass.

We had some lovely visitors, human and equine.

 

We spent ages mutually grooming,

and hanging out at the watering hole (trough) which sometimes ended in disaster.

Of course there were visits from our lovely farrier who always brings polos. 
 

And the occasional bit of argie bargy

and play.

All in all, although rather too hot for us most of the time, we horses had a good summer.

Autumn now, still hot in the day time and more rain would be appreciated.
