A Resue Pony's September

 

Eggsy Pony disgraced himself at the beginning of September when he decided to go walkabout. He escaped from a paddock of standing hay and started grazing the track instead. 

It proved to be rather a bad move on Eggsy's behalf as it  resulted in Eggsy and friends having to be moved back to what should have been resting paddocks, paddocks with reliable electric fencing. but less grass.

Early September brought some much needed rain and the grass, which had been dormant during the long summer drought began to grow back.

 

Eggsy wasn't the only horse on the livery yard to make a great escape during September, hardly surprising really when owners leave electric fence lines lying on the ground. This paddock had been like this for quite a while. 

Two horses escaped their paddocks, one came to visit us and he became a regular visitor.
 

He was eventually moved up to a paddock adjacent to us and then he stopped escaping! Sadly BB as he was know was sold shortly afterwards.

It's officially Autumn now, daylight hours are reducing and even though daytime temperatures remain in the 20sall the horses are beginning to grow their winter coats. It reached 24 today, the last day of September.

So that's it for the first "ber" month of 2026, it ended well for Eggsy with his monthly Ko-fi fundraiser to help pay for his keep hitting target today. Of course the whole thing starts again the 2nd "ber" month October's fundraiser.
